Life drawing/painting goup which meet at the Rugby Club, near Booth's, in Keswick in the Lake District National Park, UK and we provide opportunities for figure drawing and painting with a real person as a model. Artists bring their own equipment and there is no formal tutoring. The form of each session varies depending on who is leading it and poses, which may be clothed or unclothed, often vary in length considerably.
Keswick Rugby Club has its own car park (see notes on parking in red text below), which will be free for GoFigure attendees and our GoFigure model to use for the duration of the GoFigure session. You can park for free whilst the booked GoFigure session is running from 09:00 until 13:00 provided your car number plate is registered, on your arrival and before you set up for the GoFigure session, on one of the two screens provided in Keswick Rugby Club building.
Keswick Rugby Club is a lovely venue where there is a modern, heated room, separate changing facilities, a kitchen and a drinks machine for use during the session.
There is also a bar, which we are welcome to use for drinks, snacks or meals after the session. Please note, cars parked and registered properly, as detailed in the red text below, may remain parked whilst using this facility at the end of the GoFigure session.
N.B. It is imperative that you register your car number plate, on arrival and before setting up for the GoFigure session, on one of either of the screens provided for this purpose. These screens are installed at the bar or on level two. Registration of your car number plate is necessary in order to gain access to the free parking facility for the duration of the GoFigure session. This is to avoid parking fees/fines.
GoFigure is not a business. The only people who get paid are the models. GoFigure seeks to follow RAM (Register of Artists' Models) guidelines. There is no photography of models. Please don't ask the models, it is a GoFigure thing. . To ensure all attending artists have ample view of the model without being hemmed we are encouraging artists to follow a couple of simple guidelines:
Prepaying/non-prepaying members attend as you wish BUT any GoFigure group member wishing to bring a visitor/friend please email to check there will be space to accommodate extra artists. Generally, visitor numbers are limited to two per session, this is just to ensure all attending get a good view of our model. The email address is: 4GoFigure@gmail.com
Charges to artists :
Prepayment for GoFigure members for each cycle of 5 sessions is £50.00, payable on the first Friday of each cycle of 5.
Alternatively, for those GoFigure members choosing not to prepay or visitors the fee will is £15.00 per session.
Prepayment is strongly encouraged. With any curtailment of activities for any reason, preference is given to those artists pre-paying. Importantly it creates the stability that keeps the group going!!!
Artists please arrive between 9 and 9:30 am to set up.
Our model arrives by 9:30 to start at 9:45 am.
Most sessions finish by 1 pm.
For our all day "PULP" life drawing sessions, held at Stainton Village Hall periodically through the year, focusing on providing a single long poses after warm ups, please refer to the separate "PULP" page.
Please bring something to protect the hall floor from charcoal, pastel, acrylic, oil, odourless solvents etc. Turpentine is not allowed for health reasons.
Upcoming sessions are detailed on the 'Diary' drop down menu subpages. The subpages are generally arranged in five-week cycles so we all know when prepayment is next due!
